She also mentioned to me that she was going to blog on her own blog on Monday to watch for it. So now it's my turn to blog about the subject :).

I've had some frienships come and go, both online and real life frienships. I've got one friend who I met while Role Playing soap operas (something I have not done in YEARS). She and I have been friends for about 10 yrs. And have lived somewhat similar lives. I tell her just about everything, there are somethings I don't tell her but most of the time I do tell her.

I have another friend who I met online and then met in person. I was going through a rough time in my life, and realized I needed to lose weight, so I joined TWO weightloss sites. One of them no longer exsists, well the site does but the forums don't (Carolyn, correct me if I'm wrong). Tiffany I met on the slimfast site. We emailed every day and she was helping me through some personal things and when it came to Christmas cards she asked for my address, so she could send me a card. I sent it to her and asked for hers, and she sent it to me and then I got her phone numbers with "in case you need them" which I did. My grandmother had been pretty sick and did pass away shortly after Tiffany sent me her numbers. So I called her, and let her know. We had to have two memorial services for my grandmother one here in Wisconsin, the other in Florida to lay her ashes to rest. I was able to meet Tiffany the day after Christmas. We had a fabulous time. Our friendship has only grown stronger since 2003.

My other online friendship with Carolyn is similar, but haven't met her, YET, although who knows if the opportunity to meet will present itself. Carolyn and I have been friends for close to 10 yrs, I started somersizing in 2001, but then with the health of aforementioned grandmother I was really stressed out, and fell off the "wagon". In 2003, after dealing with my grandmother's death I revisited the somersize site and somehow started communicating with Carolyn more regularly. I knew of her in 2001 through the chats we'd had with other members, but then when I came back to the site something changed. We became co-leaders for the somersizing board on ivillage.com. I was asking carolyn to put in a word for me to help co-lead another board when she asked if I would be interested in helping her with the somersize board, so of course I jumped at the chance. When she told me and the Community Moderator that her husband was being transferred to London, I was crushed. Don't get me wrong, I was happy for her, but I felt like I was losing a part of something. I never told Carolyn how crushed it made me though (well til I posted on her blog earlier today). It didn't change our friendship in anyway, she was just SEVERAL hours away. We would send emails and catch up through IMs and on the board, but like I said, I felt like I lost something. When she said she was coming back to the US I was estatic, probably because she was just an hour ahead of me instead of the said several before.

Are Sarah and Carolyn's friendships any different to me than my frienship with Tiffany, ABSOLUTELY NOT! Just because I haven't met them does not mean that they are any less of a friend than she is. I may get to talk to Tiffany a bit more because I can call her or say "hey I want to come visit", but I know that Sarah and Carolyn have my back when something in my life goes crazy. Carolyn and I have daughters that are close in age, actually about a year apart, so if I'm going through something with my daughter I know I can always ask her what to expect. But that hasn't happened lately. I may not be able to call her up and ask if I can come over to just talk but I know that I can leave her an email or send her an IM and know that she'll respond.

Holy no posting! I forgot my password, OOPS

I've been knitting up a storm lately, which is good. I started my Kalediscope Fibers KAL sweater June 25th. Um, slight problem with that, I may be done before the KAL even STARTS! The KAL doesn't start until the 27th of this month. I am almost half way done with the sweater. I have two more to knit though so maybe if the one i'm doing now (for me) is done, I can do my daughter's. Then hopefully I have time to do a few more for gifts.

Speaking of gifts, it's almost 6 months out to Christmas (Carin I know you're gonna say something next week possibly about the Christmas countdown, oh well). Let's see....

My mom... a tank to go with her Dofuku kimono from TWO years ago.

My dad... a pair of socks, I think (don't normally knit for him)

My brother in law.... a pair of socks (knit him a pair two years ago, time for a new pair)

My sweet little girl... a sweater and possibly more wrist warmers

My cousin and his family... dishcloths and baby things (Rachel will also get a shawl)

My cousin... dishcloths and a shawl

My uncle and step aunt....dishcloths and a shawl for my step aunt

My inlaws are NOT getting anything this year handknit wise, they have been terrible to me (the one brother in law I'm knititng socks for is on my side of the family not my husbands, so it's all good)

I'm doing the Sedona Knit by C2knits. SO fun and easy. I have the collar done and the sleeves are on stitch holders for later, and about 2 1/2 inches of the body is done. I have 11 1/2 inches yet to go. Should fly, although it's in stockinette stitch for most of it and 2x2 rib for the edging. But I'm sure it'll go fast. I just need to get more yarn whenever idiot husband can send me some money (stupid inlaws are being terrible about his spousal support to me, but whenever a marriage goes south with him, they always blame the ex, dont' get it cause he's the one that fouled up with the affairs not the other way around).

I am also working on a Firaments Lace Shawl for myself, which is ALMOST done, I just have some more of the last pattern row of repeat eight to go, then a plain knit row then I can start the LAST repeat of the body and then work on the dangblasted perpendicular edging, that sounds like SO much fun!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://amysknitting.blogspot.com/2011/07/holy-no-posting-i-forgot-my-password.html' title='Holy no posting! Lucky me, huh?

Okay, now to the shawl. I am ALMOST done. Will be glad when the doctor okay's me to start knitting again, cause right now I'm staring at it along with a pair of unfinished socks that I really want to finish. I am going to send it to my mother-in-law for her birthday, which ironically is the same day as my ex's.

The baby items..... I have stuff to knit for baby Shawn, a sweater and some bibs, Chase is getting a baby blanket, a sweater, and some bibs, and my favorite baby (who isn't made his arrival yet) Henry, a whole SLEW of baby things, think I'm spoiling cause Henry's family. Doing my basic baby sweater pattern for all three, with a crochet edge around the botton of the sweater, the edges and the sleeves. Same with the baby bibs although Henry has one already (gave it to Eric and Rachel as a Christmas gift). I suppose I could knit some stuff for Brookelynn (my grandaughter) but I'm not sure I'm ready to go that route yet. The only reason I am giving the shawl to my MIL is because she's done so much for me (on the lookout for certain yarns for me when I run out).

Christmas Knitting end in sight

Just finished knitting Aly's wrist warmers. YAY! I also figured out where her sweater was (thanks to a phone call with my mom where she stated there was a project of mine in her office at her house). So now that's currently my focus to finish.

We are having our family christmas with my uncle and his family the day after Christams, which means I need to get working on gifts for them. Which means eitehr baby sweater for Eric and Rachel or a baby blanket or both. For my uncle and his wife I think I'll make fudge. I am thinking that maybe I'll make a pair of wristwarmers for my cousin Leah.

I am now working on Aly's birthday present. And not to mention still trying to train the dog to go potty OUTSIDE, not in the house.

Jen's Christmas gift is blocking on the guest room bed, Aly's cowl is done and in a box under the tree at my parents. I was knitting during downtime, UGH. I had nothing to do last friday during a staffing of an individual where I work. Since I couldn't knit I sat in the office bored out of my mind for an hour. I did have the sweater for knitting with me but didn't dare knit on it since my PM was at the staffing and I was told I couldn't knit so I sat in the office and did NOTHING, which was so boring. I mean I could have probably gotten on the comptuer and looked up patterns to knit but didn't because I don't want to break any rules. So the only time I'm knitting anything is when I am at home or at my parents. I am almost done wiht the back of the sweater though, and then it's on to teh two fronts and sleeves. It is going fast but it's boring knitting now.

R.I.P. Magnum...welcome Mishi

My beloved Shep/husky mix passed away on Wednesday. It was VERY sudden, my husband and I were in Madison for a surgery my husband had to have and when we came back Magnum was laying on the office floor dead. We drove to the humane society where we got him and asked about having him disposed of. That's when I saw a couple of dogs I could possibly adopt. The first one was Violet. She's a sweet dog but too much barking and would drive me nuts trying to sleep. Then there was her kennel mate Nena who is a long hair chiuhua. On Thursday we took Magnum's body to the humane society to be cremated, and looked at Nena one last time and I put an application in to adopt her. I got the call Friday that we could adopt Nena, which we did shortly after going to the bank getting money to get her and a few necessities for her. I changed her name to Mishi (to keep the M phase of dog names going)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://amysknitting.blogspot.com/2010/10/rip-magnumwelcome.html' title='R.I.P. I started a new one out of Shibui Knits Sock yarn, OMG, I want this one for myself!!!! I was on the phone wiht my best guy friend, Terry, that i'd have to make myself one for when he came to visit me next month. Here's the deal with Terry and I, we were child hood sweethearts, never really broke up after I ended up transfering schools TWICE. Thanks to a mutual friend finding me on facebook I noticed mutual friend and Terry were friends, so I started emailing with Terry on facebook. So then we were both on facebook one day in April and we exchanged cell #'s. We haven't stopped talking since. He's a great friend who I can't wait to see again. I was able to see him in June when he came back to the Midwest from Va for a family reunion. He will be back in the midwest in Sept/Oct for his 20th high school reunion and then a cousins wedding. He's squeezing in time to see me again. lucky me!

Back to Mom's shawl, it's almost done. I am in the middle of binding off and then when I get home it will be blocked. then I will go through my patterns and figure out which one I want to do for myself. I started a burgandy Firament's Shawl (Valley Yarns pattern), but somehow screwed it up pretty badly so started over with a black one and am REALLY liking this pattern. I am not quite through the first repeat of Chart B, but so far so good, not a holy mess like the last one, although it's a lot of lace it's SO pretty. I won't have it done by the time I see Terry next Wed, but that's okay.I am trying to take my time with it so I don't mess it up. This is more adventurous of me than I've ever been. I've knit one other thing in the round and that was it and it's never going to be completed because the yarn I used was discontinued :(

I have to redo Shawn's blanket cause I lost it, not sure exactly how that happened though, but oh well.

Off to a training class for now, love my job and glad this is teh last week of training.

Shawl Knitting up the rear

I finished a Multnomah Shawl for my mom's birthday (the 4th of July), but it needs to be blocked yet, oops...hopefully I can have it to her by Monday. Monkey Socks here I come :) I even found out where to get other colors of Claudia Handpainted yarn when I want some. Waiting for my Eat, Sleep, Knit order to come soon so I can start on a shawl. Won't make it for Valentine's day but that's okay. I ordered Malibrigo Merion Lace, in Littel Lovely. Can't wait to see it. Aly will end up being my swift next weekend when I'm not working on socks.

Also waiting for my Knit Pick's order to arrive. Either working on a pair of socks or Mom's sweater.

Christmas Knitting

I've been working on my mom's christmas present since the 21st or 22nd of this month. So far the back and most of the right front are done. Got more of it done in the ER today with Grandpa having severe constipation and having to go there this afternoon. I should be done with the rigth front sometime tonight, although I need some sleep. I have been up since 3am this morning. With no break. I packed for this weekend, then fed the dog, came to my parents and haven't slowed down one bit. Although if you count sitting at the kitchen counter working on said present is resting I guess I've gotten some of that, but shut my eyes not so much. I am thinking of doing another Dofuku kimono for my best friend for Christmas if this one works up as fast as it seems.

knitting and KALs and whatever else is on my mind tonight

I should be finishing some socks but the dang dog ATE my yarn. Don't ask me HOW he managed that one cause I really don't know, all I know is DH and I went out one night knitting bag was on the floor and good sock yarn no where to be found!!!!

I am in a KAL from Ready Set Knit (Web's America's Yarn Store podcast) and frankly it's driving me batty!! I talked to Kathy Elkins today and let her know and she said to let her knwo how it came out. Need to email Pixie if I can't figure it out on Wednesday. Other than that I am working on a Kimono for my mom for Christmas it's the Komon (I think that's the name of it) Kimono in Vicki Square's Knit Kimono book. I have a feeling I'll be making a bunch of kimono's for my friends (or the botanical Medalian Cardi if I get it all figured out). I need to make a stash trip to my LYS to see if Patty has any of the yarn for the kimono it was supposedly being discontinued but i could have sworn I saw it again in the new location. If not I'm SOL!!!!

DH does not know that i placed a key logger on the laptop so that I can check up on him slyly. Hmm that may come up in counseling tomorrow but we'll see.

Off to knit more of the kimono. i wish the patter worked with teh Pure Pima I bought. Thanks to my friend Lori D. I am loving the socks on two circular needles!! I am going to try and get some new sock yarn soon, I am running low.

My first WEBS order came last week, four glorious hanks of Berroco's Pure Pima, I ordered 2 hanks in Curry, 1 hank in Coral and 1 hank in Limelight. My second order from WEBS should come sometime this week. I ordered one of their closeout items, Casade's Sienna in Mint Green. I've been on a green kick lately too, go figure that one out!

I am also hoping my swap package comes this week too. I know who had me in the swap after two days of trying to figure it out, although I have to give the yarn to two of my daughters as I have a sensitivity to the yarn, WAAAAH! I'm sure Deb will come up with some other fabulous items for me to recieve. I am almost done with my box, just need to have get a note together and in the box and off goes it goes to its recipent.

Okay, off to enjoy the cool lake water it's 88 degrees outside and the A/C is NOT working, which is making me rather cranky.

Memorial Day weekend and knitting socks and some other ramblings

This weekend my family is having it's traditional bbq minus a few poeple, but that's okay with me.

I have been on a sock knititng kick lately, I have two socks on circular needles going right now, a green pair and a pink pair. One of them was for my mother-in-law, so that's on it's way to her right now. I am not sure what to knit next, I have so many projects started it's not funny. I may finish Aly's sweater, for next fall, it's orange, and BRIGHT orange mind you.I have hte back done, and almost one sleeve, I just got so bored with it that I stopped working on it. I also started a wash cloth for my great niece. That I'll work on later this week I'm sure.

While sitting here typing, I decided I should work on Aly's sweater, so that's what I'm doing while waiting for the EX to get back to the office so that we can talk. We are still friends, which sometimes shocks me, but oh well, he said we need to talk. He knows it always freaks me out when he says that, that's what ended our whole good thing. I might make Mom and Dad S some scarves, that won't work for Mom and Dad G since they're in FL for hte winter, and it's warm down there. I am going to get some Ultra Silk from Berroco while I'm down there, unless I get Microspun while I"m still here and do a wrap for myself for hte plane. IT shouldnt' take me TOO long to get a shawl done. I have layovers in two airports, so we'll see. I will probably just pack my knitting in my suitcase but we'll see.

Scarf Progress and other knitting updates

I am almost done with my next door neighbor's scarf. I should have it done within the next five mintues. I"m sitting at my computer desk, watching tv, knititng and surfing the net. Go figure, but that's how I unwind on my days off.

Okay I just bound off the scarf. Now I just need to sew in the ends and the yarn where I joined another skein of wool yarn and it's ready for linda to wear this winter. I'll post a picture later.

Now I can work on Heather's baby sweater for Elizabeth and not feel too guilty that I'm not working on the scarf. I also need to work on my brother's blanket. That's gonna be fun. I will probably take that with me to FL to work on at the airports during my layovers. The one baby sweater is for my friend Heather. It's just been hard working on her sweater since I had a miscarriage. I was able to get some of it done though. I have the back done and the two front pannels, just taking me longer than I thought. I have to get the scarf done by next Friday or is it Saturday, I can't remember. All the days of the week are running together. It's been stressful trying to take care of grandma and then working. My brother didn't make it much better on me today either.

I'm in love AGAIN

This time I think it's the real thing. THe last time the two and a half years with Roger was a JOKE. He cheated on me who knows how many times. But Jeremy hasn't done anything to hurt me. Well he has, but I'm over it. He has defintetly made up for it too.

I talked to Jeremy's mom today for a while, that was nice. I think she and I will get along.

In knitting news, I finsihed my friend Heather's baby blanket. Now I'm going to get some Pink and purple baby soft yarn and knit two sweaters. That way I can also get Hillary's baby blanket and sweater done. I may do a pair of booties too, but not sure. I need to write the baby sweater pattern down again. Becky posted the new stitch a month pattern, but I"m having a problem with it. I need to frog it and just keep working my way to that stitch. I'll get there soon I hope. I need to get another notebook that I can just ridte down a char of what stithces I have done and in what color so I don't repeat them, although that might not be so bad if I do. I need to find my Ultamite Sourcebook for Knit and Crochet Stitches. There are a TON in there that I can try. If I can't go to get suoplies to do more knitting today, I can do it tomorrow. I need to see if we're going ot Madison to pick out a new sink for the bathroom (that deserves it's own post later). But my knitting will go in the car no matter what is going on.

the end of the blankets

The end of knitting blankets is in site. I have one almost done, just need to get more yarn for it, except they don't have hte right color, ugh. So maybe on Thurs after work I'll talk to mom and see if she'll let Jeremy and I borrow the car to go to Walmart and I'll get a different shade of yarn and the correct amount of skeins to get it finished. Then theres' my brother's afghan. I am doing a sampler of stitches for his. I have January, February done, and one for June done. I have to finish March, April, May, and July. I take my knitting to the hospital when we go to see Grandma, so that it gets done faster. Elizabeth's only needs one more skein of Red Heart Baby Clouds in Tutti Frutti to finsih it. I think I have enough to finish Ed's afghan, so we'll see.

On the other front, Jeremy's coming on Thursday. I can't wait. Although I am still waiting for the ohter shoe to drop. He said that he was snooping in his mom's date book and Leslie's name is written from the 17th thru the 27th. I am betting that Leslie conned her way out to visit. I don't need to have my heart broken again, it's not worth dating if it is.

I'm bored

Your Linguistic Profile:

65% General American English

15% Yankee

10% Dixie

5% Upper Midwestern

0% Midwestern

What Kind of American English Do You Speak?

Thowing myself into my knitting

Well Roger and I ended things yesterday. Only because I can't find the Lu Lu yarn I need. Stupid Walmart. Mom picked out Red Hearts Baby Clouds in Tutti Frutti, it's okay, but it reminds me of Homespun yarn, which I totally dispise, but so far it's working okay.

The mint and white baby blanket is going okay. I need to finish writing out the pattern, have been doing the written version of the chart, cause I hate reading charts. I have about two and a half blocks done so far, but I can't find the first block so techincally only one and a half blocks done. After I finish this second block I'll sew the first one (it was a solid white block) to the one I finish tonight. Hopefully I'll get the baby blanket knocked out within a week or so, ha. It took me more than what I thougth it would take to get Roger's blanket done, whoops. We'll see. I'll try to post pics when I get ti more completed.

Blankets, blankets and more blankets

Well I'm working on the baby blanket for Heather. I've gotten two squares done, with who knows how many more to do. it's in mint green and white. I did a sweater for her baby (due on Roger's birthday) in Mint Green so that they match.

Ed was down for Easter and he saw the blanket I did for Roger. He wants one now. I am going to Walmart on Saturday to see if I can find some brown Softee Chunky yarn. If not we'll see what I can manage. Maybe a green or something. Who knows.

I have another baby blanket to finish, but need yarn for that one too, but it's almost done. I have three squares to do and then sew it together.

I will be glad when blanket making is over. Although It won't be done for a while because I have to do the sampler afghan for myself. I am thinking that I'll do it in natural Softee Chunky. But we'll see. I need to get more stitch markers, mine seem to have disappeared.

Roger's Blanket

I"ve had Roger's blanket done for a couple of months, but I haven't had time to really post much, so I'm finally getting around to posting. I knitted all the pieces, now I just need to buy a lining fabric, yarn needles, and then sew everything together. My mom won't get it til Christmas. I am thinking of making myself a warm wishes jacket that I found the pattern for the Warm Wishes Jacket in my current issue of Creative Knitting. I have been working on Roger's blanket. I finally got more Lion Brand Homespun Baby, to sew Alys poncho together. I still haven't sewed my slippers together eitehr. Think that's next on my list, but we'll see how much of Roger's blanket I can get done. I may take the third panel to Angie's with me when I go on Wed. I have three squares almost done, so I still have a ways to go on it. I have to go shopping today sometime (hopefully after Aly's done iwth her pancakes) so think I'll take two panels of the blanket with me, one I'm working on and one I'm done with so I can check the length. So we'll see.

Mindless knitting

Today's going to be fun. I am tryign to stay out of the family room since there's a ton of drywall and insullation that are covering the floor, and the leaves and twigs that came through Monday when a tree fell on the house.

I did a poncho for a friend's daughter and she uses it as a blankie. It's too cute. Aly said she wanted one, so I finally figured that while the house is in disrepair (well til the contractor can start working on the house), I'll just do some mindless stuff. I may start some cable clutch purses at some point, but who knows. It's not going to be anytime soon I don't think.

No knitting today

After walking in the town and country days parade for Aly's dance studio, I don't exactly feel up to knitting. I still have to sew my slippers together, since I knit all the squares and they're done. Sweing a knitting project is different ;). I'll post pictures when they're done.
I did finish Aly's slippers and they turned out cute. After mine are sewed together, I need to work on Roger's blanket, and then possibly work on a sweater to wear to see some friends. We'll see though. Dad needs to take me to either Walmart or Jo Ann's so I can get yarn and circ needles. I just have my straight size 8s and need some circ size 6s.

This is what Aly's slippers look like, of course on HER feet :)
